Work on the 2020 Census: on Your Schedule

You can work for the Census this year even if you already have a job. You earn some extra income while helping your community. Most people will work part-time — with many working only evenings and weekends. The jobs are available in all rural and urban areas of the country.

The 2020 Census will count every person living in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. The Bureau will ask each household a few questions, including the ages and number of people living at that address.

Some people will not respond to the initial requests to participate. The Census Bureau is organizing a massive effort to find those that do not finish the survey and contact them directly. You can be part of this effort.

These Census workers will double check the Census Bureau’s address data bases and contact all the occupied homes that didn’t respond.

Hiring began in January for jobs including census takers, recruiters, clerks and supervisors.

The pay varies from area to area. For example the hourly pay in Fort Meyers, Florida is $15.50, in Portland, Oregon is $18 and in Cincinnati, Ohio is $23.50.
